An act from the year of 1867 authorized the construction of a small-scale market hall – the Bazaar, a multi-storey “emporium” was built between 1869-1872.
A relative of Burzenland houses, and mostly preserving its original shape, the rubble mansion with a rectangular base was built in 1794 in a rustic-baroque style, and has only two rooms.
It is the only remaining edifice of medieval origin in Saint George, which was reconstructed and extended in several phases.
The image of today’s Saint George city is that of a European city that preserves its traditions. Time has left us with impressive and imposing buildings, but it is important to realize that they do not represent merely aesthetic and artistic values, but also historical, moral and spiritual ones. Without the intention of being comprehensive, here are some gems from our city's heritage of which we, the citizens of Saint George, are so proud.
